Crochet

I've been crocheting since I was 13, and it's been one of those hobbies that has stuck with me through the years. There's something incredibly soothing about the repetitive nature of it—the rhythmic motion of the hook pulling yarn through loops, creating something tangible from nothing but a ball of thread.

I've always been on the crafty side of art, someone who loves building things with their hands. Crochet became the perfect outlet for that creative energy. Whether it's a cozy blanket, a cute amigurumi, or an intricate doily, there's always a new pattern to try, a new technique to master.

The Business Experiment

During my time in college, I decided to turn this hobby into a small side hustle. I sold a couple of pieces—like the ones below—and managed to make about 2-3k. It was exciting at first, seeing people appreciate and actually pay for something I created.

But reality hit pretty quickly. The time investment versus the return just didn't add up. Hours upon hours of work for a price that barely covered the cost of materials and my time. I quickly realized that crochet doesn't have a good ROI if you're trying to make it a business. So, I gave up on the selling part.

Back to the Basics

These days, I crochet purely for the joy of it. When I find the time between work and other commitments, I'll pick up my hook and yarn and just create. No pressure, no deadlines, no customers to please. Just me, my yarn, and the meditative rhythm of crochet.

It's a reminder that not every hobby needs to be monetized. Sometimes, the best things in life are the ones we do simply because they bring us peace and happiness.
